Known as “Cereal City,” Battle Creek is a significant urban center in Calhoun County, Michigan, most famous for being the headquarters of Kellogg Company. The city has much more to offer than cereal, though, with a rich history illustrated by landmarks like the Underground Railroad Monument and the Kingman Museum of Natural History. The Battle Creek River winds through the city, providing scenic spots for kayaking and fishing, and is a tributary of the Kalamazoo River, which also passes through the area. Binder Park Zoo is another standout attraction, housing over 600 animals and offering a variety of interactive exhibits. The city’s Fort Custer Recreation Area is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts, offering biking trails, campgrounds, and fishing areas. West Columbia Avenue and Capital Avenue are the primary commercial corridors, offering a wide array of shops, restaurants, and businesses, and intersect near the downtown area which is known for its cultural attractions like the Art Center of Battle Creek.
