Sherwood, Michigan

Sherwood is located in the southwestern part of Michigan, approximately 20 miles west of Coldwater. Unlike larger communities, Sherwood is primarily a residential village surrounded by rolling farmlands and forests. The Nottawa Creek flows through Sherwood, providing an avenue for fishing and canoeing for the locals. It eventually empties into the St. Joseph River, which forms the western boundary of the village and serves as a major waterway for the region. The community is divided into two primary areas: the Old Sherwood neighborhood, known for its historical homes and peaceful streets, and the newer subdivisions to the north and east that have sprung up in recent years. The Sherwood Forest Campground is a popular site for camping and offers additional fishing spots, nature trails, and recreational activities. Major thoroughfares include Oliverda Drive and Balk Road, which serve as gateways to the surrounding areas including Athens and Leonidas. These roads connect Sherwood to larger highways like M-60, making travel to more urban centers convenient.
